• New $4 Flat-Rate Shipping for U.S. Orders

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been a while since I've taken the time to write a special TINY ENGINES newsletter directly to you - the fans and mail order kids who ensure that this little label stays afloat and continues to release records from some of the best young, independent bands out there. So, before I get into all the latest shenanigans at TEHQ, let me throw out yet another giant thank you for all the support over the past few years; we couldn't have done it without you!
On that note, we've got some sweet (and very limited) stuff going on at the webstore right now, including test pressings and hand-screened prints, and we're giving our loyal mail order customers first crack at them. It's just our way of expressing our appreciation for ordering directly from Tiny Engines. We've also added a few extra copies of Wavelets' Athaletics in clear and Signals Midwest's Latitudes And Longitudes in teal. And to top it all off, we're now offering $4 flat-rate shipping for all U.S. orders, so feel free to pile on!
Read below for more details, plus updates on all our bands and a few other juicy tidbits as well. Thanks for listening and if you have any questions, feel free to send us an email any time. We love to talk!
LIMITED EDITION TEST PRESSINGS + PRINTS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First up - Limited-Edition Test Pressings / Hand-Screened Prints from CSTVT, EVERYONE EVERYWHERE and MONUMENT. I'm not sure if you were aware of this, but making vinyl records is an expensive (and not all that profitable) business. Because we'd like to make more vinyl records and pay off old debt, every once in a while we'll sell some test pressings to aid in the funding of the aforementioned releases.
Of course, simply selling test pressings is kinda boring, so we've commissioned some awesome artists (Iron Chic's Jay Lubrano, Matt Leech and Ryan G. Hill) to design exclusive prints for each release. These prints were hand-screened in limited quantities by our good buddy, Dustin Garrett, and then we hand-numbered each one. They've been paired with the test pressings and now they're available for all you collectors for a reasonable price. And if you're not interested in the tests but you'd really like a print, we've got individual copies of those available here.
• Everyone Everywhere - S/T - Test Pressing + Limited Print
Total numbers: 29 test manufactured by Erika Records / 50 prints screened by Dustin Garrett
10 test pressings + prints available for sale
18 individual prints for sale
• CSTVT - The Echo & The Light - Test Pressing + Limited Print
Total numbers: 34 tests manufactured by Rainbo Records / 65 prints screened by Dustin Garrett
13 test pressings + prints available for sale
30 individual prints for sale
• Monument - Goes Canoeing - Test Pressing + Limited Print
Total numbers: 34 tests manufactured by Rainbo Records / 64 prints screened by Dustin Garrett
19 test pressings + prints available for sale
25 individual prints for sale
Each of the test pressings includes the standard record jacket, insert and download card. We'll take great care to ship these with lots of sturdy cardboard (and love), and for U.S. orders, I'll tack on delivery confirmation as well. Overseas kids - order at your own risk, but again, we'll pack it up nice and tight and we've never had many problems mailing records across the ocean. Don't sleep on these, folks; I'm sure they won't be around for very long!
WAVELETS (CLEAR) + SIGNALS MIDWEST (TEAL) BACK IN STOCK
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Moving on, we now have additional copies of the Wavelets and Signals Midwest 12-inches in clear and teal vinyl colors, respectively. While we only ordered 75 total for each, it's often the case that Rainbo (our manufacturing plant) presses about 10 percent overage, which means that we were shipped extra copies of both colors. 20 of each, to be exact. For more information, go here for Wavelets and here for Signals Midwest.
NEW U.S. FLAT-RATE SHIPPING
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We've decided that for U.S. orders, we're going to offer a $4 flat shipping rate. That means that no matter how many records and other goodies you purchase, shipping with always be $4. two LPs and a 7-inch? Four bucks. A large tee shirt and five LPs? Four smackers. The entire Tiny Engines catalog? Well, you get the point. And because that flat rate may seem steep for one 7-inch, we've gone ahead and lowered the cost of all our 7-inches to $4 each. Basically, we're just trying to make things simpler for everyone and give you a great deal in the process.
As for overseas mail order kids, we're sorry we can't offer you anything like a flat shipping rate, but it seriously costs us an arm and a leg to mail packages to UK, Australia, Japan, Germany, etc etc. Still, we really appreciate your support and over the years, Tiny Engines' international fans have been a huge part of our mail order business. As such, we're doing out best to team up with distros to make our records a lot more affordable to you. We've already joined forces with the good folks of Poison City Records in Australia, and in Japan we work with Stiff Slack, Waterslide and Senseless. We also have relationships with Denovali in Germany, Chisel Records in Canada and both strictly no capital letters and Banquet Records in the UK. We'll continue to make inroads in this respect and hopefully make Tiny Engines releases as affordable and accessible to you as they are to domestic customers.
BAND UPDATES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the band tip, the majority of the roster been really active over the past few months. The newest addition to the Tiny Engines family, STATE FAULTS, recently left for a tour of the U.S. You can see those dates here. The band's debut full-length, Desolate Peaks, is now in mastering with our boy Dave Eck at Lucky Lacquers and it shouldn't be too long before we have pre-orders available. You can stream a rough mix of the brand new song "Arrowhead" here.
Our other new roster addition, DIKEMBE, just completed a successful tour of the East Coast with Topshelf Records' You Blew It and is nearly finished mixing its debut full-length, Broad Shoulders. Here's a video from the tour of the band playing a new song, "Aplogy Not F*cking Accepted." Front man Steven Gray and guitarist Ryan Willems also split time in WAVELETS, whose recently released debut LP Athaletics continues to get a great response from everyone, including the press. Read what our friends from Absolutepunk.net, Manual Dexterity, WIUX Blog, Is This Thing On? and Rock Sound said about the album.
Upstate NY's CATTLE DRUMS also just finished an East Coast tour and will be recording its long-awaited debut LP in February. Seriously getting excited about that one. If you haven't heard the two new demo tracks, check them out here. Of course, you should also grab this free download of the amazing The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3 EP.
Our boys in SIGNALS MIDWEST enjoyed an incredibly successful tour at the beginning of January, including a sold-out show with The Lawrence Arms and The Holy Mess in Cleveland. We pretty much struck gold with Latitudes And Longitudes and I think that the band is only going to get better. Definitely check out the LP, which features some amazing artwork and packaging. I think we can officially say that Signals Midwest is no longer flying under the radar. Read what Punknews.org said about the record.
RESTORATIONS has a handful of shows scheduled for the coming months, including a 3-day Canadian tour with Rosetta. The band's Self-Titled LP seemed to make just about every "Best of 2011" list out there. It's some seriously amazing stuff and we're about 50 copies away from selling out of the first pressing ... so grab it now! And keep your ears peeled for updates on new songs / releases in 2012.
TIGERS JAW continues to tear it up like nobody's business and just finished a tour with Balance And Composure. We've sold out of the 2nd pressing of Spirit Desire but we'll start working on the 3rd pressing very soon. Anyone want to suggest some vinyl color ideas?
CSTVT hasn't been too actively in terms of shows, but when I spoke to Nick about a month ago, he said that they were essentially done writing songs for their next full-length, which will be released by Run For Cover Records sometime in the Spring / Summer of 2012. The 2nd pressing of The Echo & The Light is now available from yours truly and the two new vinyl colors look awesome. Check em out here and here.
LOOK MEXICO was in Europe for about a month at the end of 2011 in support of its new 10-inch EP on Adeline. Catch up with the boys on their facebook page. Apparently the band is writing more new music that sounds like a cross between Animal Music, Gasp Asp, the last two records and ... RUSH?
Brendan, Brendan, Tommy and Matt from the elusive EVERYONE EVERYWHERE have finished recording their 2nd full-length with Mike Bardzik (who also recorded the Self-Titled LP), and while we're unsure of its ultimate fate, I bet it will be terrific. In the meantime, catch the zaniness on tumblr, facebook and twitter.
Kent Ohio's ANNABEL has stayed busy touring and playing shows, and the band has a new four-way split 7-inch with Empire! Empire! I Was A Lonely Estate, The Reptilian and Joie De Vivre. You can pick that up from the fine folks in Count Your Lucky Stars. Not sure what else is happening in the Annabel camp, but their facebook page promises "Big things in 2012." In the meantime, grab a copy of Here We Are Tomorrow.
MONUMENT has been in semi-hibernation lately, save for a couple shows here and there. Fortunately, the sleepy bear has raised its head and new jams are currently being written. The DC four piece has also been confirmed for Macrock 2012. Pick up a copy of Goes Canoeing now. We actually found some copies of the 180 gram black vinyl, but only five remain! Also, if you missed out on the Sweatpants Fever! EP, you can download that for free here.
THE END ...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
of this email, not of the label. Quite the opposite, actually. Will has signed up twelve new bands or something and I'm pretty sure he's trying to kill me ... or at least make sure that I don't pay any attention to Beartrap PR ... or my kids. Maybe that should be our new slogan - Tiny Engines: Good For Bands; Bad For Families. Let us know what you think about that.
In any case, I can confirm that we'll have two new bands to announce very soon (a 7" and an LP) and possibly a another new band (or three) after that. We'll also have a couple 7-inches from bands currently on the roster ... and no promises, but Tiny Engines might even see its first 2xLP in 2012.
In conclusion - and most importantly - we just got Tiny Engines stickers (thanks Night Owls Print Shop!) so expect free TE schwag in all your orders from now on. Huzzah! Once again, lots of love goes out to everyone who supports this label and its bands. You guys are the best. Talk soon ... although, don't expect one of these newsletters for at least another year. Thing took me like, eight days to write. Follow us on tumblr, twitter and facebook instead.

State Faults consists of four soulmates with a DIY ethic trying to make honest and explosive music. Formed in early 2010, the group immediately began writing and recording music within the cramped confines of a 2nd floor apartment. Huddled together in the California heat, the group created a tightly knit sound, drawing upon elements of 90's emo and post-hardcore. Those early days gave birth to the band's impressive self-released debut EP, Head In The Clouds. Released in late 2010, the EP quickly spread through word of mouth and State Faults continue to cultivate a devoted following. In what can only be described as an advancement of the sound created on Head In The Clouds, Desolate Peaks promises to take State Faults to new levels.
Stay tuned for artwork, tracklisting and more exclusive song premieres from State Faults' Desolate Peaks! The State Faults Winter Tour begins this weekend. Jan 14-26 with Ruptures. More dates to come.

Rarely do you come across a young band that startles you with such inherent quality. While Cleveland, Ohio’s Signals Midwest might be rooted in the ethos of punk rock the band quickly transcends the tag both musically and lyrically on their sophomore album, Latitudes And Longitudes. Paying tribute to the continual growth of legends like Small Brown Bike and Fairweather while echoing modern bands such as Balance And Composure and The Menzingers, Signals Midwest provide a unique perspective that resides firmly outside the punk-by-the-numbers formula. Call if post-pop/punk if you will.
Listen to "Limnology" from Latitudes And Longitudes (mp3)
Signals Midwest formed in late 2008 as a trio and issued their first full-length album in 2009. In 2010 the band expanded to a quartet with the addition of a second guitar player. That would be a pivotal move in the band’s collaborative development. Experimenting with and expanding their sound, Signals Midwest quickly outgrew the standard pop/punk pace. With 2011’s Latitudes And Longitudes there is a fleshed out maturity that shines through. Recorded mostly live, the album bristles with the kind of energy and purpose that emanates from a band confidently growing comfortable in their own skin.
The Signals Midwest Winter Tour begins this week. The band will be playing with a handful of great bands including The Lawrence Arms, Restorations, Spraynard, The Holy Mess, Everyone Everywhere, Sundials and Jet Set Sail.

...the rambunctious, extroverted energy is more reminiscent of NYC favourites Bomb the Music Industry! ("Family Crest") or Latterman ("Construction Paper"), and Signals Midwest return every break and twist in better shape than when they borrowed it. "Memo" opens moody before turning into a downright pretty, sprawling anthem and a similar build occurs in "I Was Lost," which eventually sustains an intensity that's more cathartic than suffocating (bass solo, hello). Its dynamics are powerful and unrelenting, in an exhilarating way; Latitudes and Longitudes is an album that must be taken in all at once, and definitely much more than once. - Exclaim
Cattle Drums - Winter Tour Starts This Week
CATTLE DRUMS - Short Winter Tour Announced
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Winter Tour with Old Shelves (1/4 - 1/13)
* The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3 still available for free download on Bandcamp
* New Demos Available Here
* Band recording debut LP
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cattle Drums (Oneonta, NY) are heading out for a short Winter tour in support of the band's debut, The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3, on Tiny Engines (Restorations, Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico).
The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3 is an eight song collection that puts together the original debut of the band with three newer tracks that were recorded near the end of 2010. The EP was digitally released in February 2011 on Tiny Engines and can be downloaded for FREE. Of course you can still download via iTunes as well.
The band recorded new demos in late 2011 that you can listen to here. After this short tour, Cattle Drums will head back into the studio to continue writing/recording for their debut LP which will see a 2012 release.
Remember when indie music was wild and unpredictable? Remember when bands were hard to pigeonhole into neat little sub-genres? Well, Cattle Drums will remind you if you have forgotten. Hailing from upstate NY, you might shrug your shoulders at a band named Cattle Drums but you would be remiss by doing so. Mixing post-punk, emo/hardcore, shards of math rock and even traces of dark Americana, Cattle Drums distinguish themselves as purveyors of a sound not yet recognizable to our pampered, innocent ears. Lyrically ambiguous and instrumentally ambitious with harsh, aggressive tones, Cattle Drums truly are a wild awakening for the senses. These songs truly defy classification and open the listener up to create their own unique interpretation of the Cattle Drums sound. Need a shock to the system to break you from the mundane of the daily grind? Delve into the madness of the Cattle Drums experience and witness a band operating only by their keen sense of artistic expression. Eccentric and chaotic yet always melodic and intoxicating, Cattle Drums are kicking up dust and noise unlike anybody else right now. Just imagine what is yet to come.
The Cattle Drums Winter Tour begins this week.

Signals Midwest Update
Signals Midwest jackets came in this morning so I shot this short video to show off all the new stuff that’s come in lately. I’ll be packing stuff up over the weekend so orders that include SMW should start shipping Tuesday.
Mailorder Ketchup
CSTVT records started shipping last week!
Wavelets records are shipping now!
We're still waiting on Signals Midwest jackets to come in but hopefully SMW vinyl will start shipping next week.
Oh, and congrats to Madison Marquer who won the test pressing contest for Wavelets. We'll be drawing a name for the SMW test pressing soon as well.
Thanks for your patience. As always, any questions or concerns just let us know - info@tinyengines.net
Pre-Order Updates
Just wanted to tell everyone who pre-ordered CSTVT, Wavelets and Signals Midwest LPs that we really appreciate your support, and thanks for your patience while you wait for your records! Here's what's happening with each one ...
The 2nd pressing of CSTVT's Echo & The Light is in and orders that only included this record will start shipping next week.
As for Wavelets' Athaletics, we've never been part of a release with so may delays. Bringing this sucker to life on wax has been an adventure. Fortunately it's all been worth it and I think you're really going to be stoked when that sweet slab of 180 gram vinyl arrives on your doorstep. These should be arriving to us next week and start shipping out the week of the December 19th.
Finally, for the Signals Midwest 12-inch, Latitudes And Longitudes is actually a little ahead of schedule right now. The vinyl should be arriving to us next week as well and they were mistakenly pressed on 180 gram too! Lucky us and lucky you! Depending on when the covers get to us, I would think these would start shipping right around Christmas time. We can't wait until you see the packaging for this bad boy; it's going to look awesome.
Anyway, thanks again for spending your hard-earned money on Tiny Engines and for always supporting our amazing bands. And we aplogize for the dumb waiting times on these records. I promise we'll do a much better job of that in the future! Thank you so much for your patience and your support. We couldn't do it without you!
By the way, if you've placed a pre-order for any of these records, you should have received an instant mp3 download. If not, let us know. And if there's anything else you need, please don't hesitate to drop us a line (info@tinyengines.net). We're happy to help!
